ICI ET L\u00c0 (HERE AND THERE) exhibition is a meaningful experience through which are revealed the unique works of Laurence Dauphinais, Saba Heravi, Samuel Graveline, Michelle Caron Pawlowsky and Robie Schuler. It is a wordless story that echoes with our collective and personal memory. It is a dialogue with the (in)visible, (im)material; what is interior and exterior. It shares poetic and metaphorical processes that immerse us in a meeting with ourselves and the other(s). It is the body in relationship with its environment and nature, an intimate encounter where, through images, we are given a glimpse of the beauty of stories.<\/p>\n

CURATOR<\/p>\n

Carolane Lambert is an artist from the Lanaudi\u00e8re region. Her research dives into her relationship with others, specifically through mourning, which deploys in a push and pull between absence and presence. She is interested in the relationship between body and landscape as a space for\u00a0 the deployment of metaphorical figures. She is also invested in developing multiple relations between mediums, whose limits and potentiality she explores. Through photography, video and installation works, she brings forth a poetic and metaphorical approach in which objects and images are intuitively interwoven, resulting from her desire to bring to form and express what she experiences.<\/span><\/p>\n


<\/span>With Espace Sensible, Carolane Lambert signs her first project as a curator. She acts as a representative for Artch\u2019s partnership with Atelier Silex, a space she has been an active member of, occupying the role of treasurer on the board of directors.<\/span><\/p>\n

Saba Heravi is an Iranian-Canadian artist based in Tiohti\u00e1:ke\/Montr\u00e9al. She works stems from the concepts of home, memory and identity. She works with memories and the way past events can be altered by time, often choosing to forget some parts of them. Saba uses these transformations of memory as gateways to re-examine a linear conception of history, from which her own identity is derived.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Samuel Graveline lives and works in Montreal. He is interested in the image\u2019s durability, its disappearance and its unveiling. He experiments with diverse potential for evocation and materiality through photography, notably by integrating a variety of mediums (textiles, sculpture) within it, and to support it. He is anchored in the narrative function of these representations, his works therefore act as ways to establish relations between personal stories and those of strangers. His approach brings forward a poetic and conceptual way to engage with these shared narrative motifs.<\/span><\/p>\n

Originally from Germany, Robie Schuler is a multidisciplinary artist that lives in Montreal. She addresses notions of trauma and its aftermath, as well as issues of violence and rape culture. It is through a politically engaged and feminist approach that she approaches the cultural, social, personal and political aspects of trauma. Notions of empathy and compassion are central to her work, and are brought forth by the artist with the goal of engaging in a return to emotions and sensitivity as tools for social change.<\/span><\/p>\n

Laurence Dauphinais works and lives in Montr\u00e9al\/Tiohti:\u00e1ke\/Mooniyang. Her work oscillates between documentary photography and staged images, reality and (auto)fiction, exploring the possible dialogues between practices that, at first glance, seem to be opposites. More recently, her research is anchored within the studio space, where she explores the construction of images and the notion of transformation, whether that be in the conceptual or material sense. Through these processes, she interrogates the photographic image and its modalities of perceptions, developing a practice which explores the idea of presence, performative gestures and the materiality of the image.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Michelle Caron-Pawlowsky presents from February 3 to 28 <\/span>La moiti\u00e9 de tout;<\/span><\/i> a body of works resulting from her artch x Atelier Silex residency in the context of the Espace sensible project, supported by artch.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

La moiti\u00e9 de tout (Half of Everything)<\/span><\/i> draws from geopoetics, a practice that encourages the intersection of art and ecological inquiry to navigate questions about the rejection of anthropocentrism, the romanticisation of nature, and the use of natural imagery to promote particularly desirable lifestyles. This project experiments with poetic approaches to artmaking by reimagining poetic structure in the context of visual art. The \u201crules\u201d of poetics (rhyming, lines, spacing, imagery, etc.) become arbitrary rules to a game through which various visual and aesthetic choices are made, influencing new readings of images and toying with the ways in which our ways of seeing the world around us can be altered.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n
