These two French-language training sessions are part of a series of five empowering, free, and open-to-all workshops presented by Power Corporation of Canada. They will take place on February 20 and 27, 2025, from 10 AM to 12 PM at the Centre Culturel Calixa-Lavall\u00e9e.<\/p>\n
Grant writing can be tedious and sometimes even discouraging; it represents many hours of invisible, unpaid labor in an artist\u2019s daily schedule. Yet, grants are a key component in funding research, production, and promotion of artworks, making it essential to apply for and consider them. What are the best practices? What mistakes should be avoided?<\/p>\n
To better understand the selection criteria of institutions and build a strong application, the artch team will lead a two-part session: an initial discussion on best practices, followed by an open review and annotation session for grant applications.<\/p>\n
Participants are invited to bring a work-in-progress or completed application (printed or digital version) to receive concrete feedback from the artch team.<\/p>\n

With a master\u2019s degree from the Sorbonne and a certification as a tour guide specializing in contemporary art, Sarah has a talent for writing and speaking about art. She worked in Paris for many years, notably in the cultural mediation department of the Palais de Tokyo and at the Laboratoire de la Cr\u00e9ation. A passionate dance enthusiast, she also coordinated two editions of Juste Debout, the international hip-hop dance gathering. After spending a year in Kuala Lumpur working in an art gallery, Sarah decided to settle in Montreal. A micro-collector, hyperactive, and passionate, she is a true multi-talented asset in the visual arts sector. She has been the director of artch for four years.<\/p>\n

Lise Fra\u00efss\u00e9 is a Montreal-based exhibition curator and cultural worker. She holds a master\u2019s degree in art history from UQ\u00c0M. With experience as a cultural mediator and project manager for various contemporary art festivals in Montreal, she has collaborated with both emerging and established artists. She currently works as a project manager for artch, overseeing initiatives in Quebec and internationally. artch is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting emerging artists and making art more accessible.<\/p>\n
