Introductory workshop to the basics of quilting (cutting, piecing, stuffing and piecing). Come and make a handmade quilt square from bags of soil, compost, mulch and rocks! Different levels of difficulty welcome, no specific skills required!
I live and work in Tio’tiake (Montreal) where I am currently finishing a master’s degree in visual and media arts at UQAM. I am an artist-gardener and DIY ecofeminist and have participated in many group shows in Montreal, including at la Place des Arts and CDEx. I received the excellency grant in print and photography front the McAbbie Foundation in 2018, and am participating in the 2022 edition of Artch. My artistic research stems from my everyday practices which aim toward self sufficiency, making me reflect on questions of ecology and degrowth. My work is inspired by ancestral craft techniques such as quilting and papermaking, which I conjure to consider ways to break the spell and get “out” of capitalism. Thus, the tomato plants I grow in my garden during the summer are transformed during the fall, turning into tomato sauce and paper.
