artch festival
8th edition of the artch festival
The 8th edition of the artch emerging arts festival will take place from October 15 to 19, 2025 in the lobby of 1 PVM, at Place Ville Marie. For the third year in a row, the festival will take place in this iconic downtown Montreal location, with an edition dedicated to cooperation and community-driven practices.
As the sustainability of artistic practices becomes increasingly urgent, cooperation and community are more important than ever. This year’s theme explores how artists can organize, collaborate, and coexist—not only with each other, but beyond the traditional boundaries of the art world. How can artists maintain meaningful connections despite competition and division? How can they develop new ways of working together?
Through workshops, talks, and public activities, the festival invites the community to experience the work and ideas of these artists firsthand. Free and open to all, artch is a chance to discover artists in action, attend performances, take part in workshops, and perhaps even kickstart your own art collection.

A formative journey
Each of the 18 artists received a $3,000 grant, along with 48 hours of complimentary training in artistic entrepreneurship. Between May and July, they participated in workshops covering a wide range of topics, including career planning, pricing their artwork, anti-oppression strategies, grant writing, and more.
The 18 artists also benefit from mentoring, networking opportunities, and a prime showcase to present their work to the public. Since its launch, the artch program has supported the careers of more than 167 artists, many of whom have gone on to succeed regionally, nationally, and internationally.
