Criteria: 18 to 35 years old
Asset: Candidates from UQAM’s Faculty of Arts who are about to graduate or have graduated within the last five years.

Presentation
Artch’s mission is to support emerging artists in their first stages of professionalization. Like an incubator, each year Artch identifies, trains, finances, mentors and exhibits a cohort of artists at the start of their careers. An exhibition in September in downtown Tio’tia:ke / Montreal, which over the past 5 years has become a new rendez-vous for art lovers, visual arts professionals and the general public. The public space thus becomes a veritable platform for the dissemination of emerging visual artists. Artch is a platform for exchange whose objectives are to propel emerging artists by offering them training and putting them in touch with the Montreal visual arts community. The project also aims to attract new collectors and introduce the general public to contemporary art. All with a view to perpetuating the artistic ecosystem in Montreal.
Mandate
ARTCH is looking for Cultural Mediators/Artist Assistants for the September 7-10, 2023 event in downtown Montreal. Your mandate will be to raise public awareness of contemporary art and facilitate exchanges with exhibiting artists. On September 5, a 2 to 3-hour training session will be offered to help you prepare for the event. Mediators will also be required to help artists install and uninstall their works on a daily basis.
Job description
- Help set up from 11 a.m. to noon each day from September 7 to 10, 2023 (works must be removed from storage and installed in the artists’ module each day).
- Greet the public continuously in the square/space.
- Introduce visitors to contemporary art and facilitate exchanges with the artists present.
- Lead scheduled workshops and guided tours with registered and spontaneous groups
- Inform the public about the artists’ approaches and biographies, and about artch’s missions
- Supervise the works and exhibition modules with the artists
- Help with the storage of works from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm from September 7 to 10 with the artists
Qualifications required
- French and English
- Studies and/or experience in art history, media art or any other field related to the visual arts
- Experience in customer service or related field
- Autonomous, responsible, good interpersonal skills, excellent customer service.
